Stagnant repetition (Fu Yin) — what is it? Stagnant repetition is the changed line coinciding with the moving line — Zhen into Qian, Qian into Zhen. It reports tangle and weariness, inner or outer.
As a concept, Stagnant repetition is this: the changed line coincides with the moving line, which covers Zhen changing into Qian and Qian changing into Zhen.

Here we see that the changed line of line 2 coincides with line 2, and the changed line of line 3 coincides with line 3; this is called inner Stagnant repetition, because the phenomenon of Stagnant repetition happens in the inner trigram, and likewise for the case of the outer trigram.
What Stagnant repetition signals
Stagnant repetition reports tangle and weariness: inner is from within oneself, or matters at home or in close relationships; outer is a matter outside.
