Reversed repetition (Fan Yin) — what is it? Reversed repetition is the changed line clashing the moving line — Xun into Kun, Kun into Xun. It reports an event repeating, inner or outer.

As a concept, Reversed repetition is this: the changed line clashes the moving line, which covers Xun changing into Kun and Kun changing into Xun.

Example: outer and inner Reversed repetition

Example:

Peace (Tai) changes to Small Taming (Xiao Chu) Earth (Kun) Palace · Earth
Offspring You Metal Resp. × Officer line · Mao Wood
Wealth Hai Water × Parents · Si Fire
Siblings Chou Earth
Siblings Chen Earth Self
Officer line Yin Wood
Wealth Zi Water

Here we see that the changed line of line 5 clashes line 5, and the changed line of line 6 clashes line 6; this case is called outer Reversed repetition, because the Reversed repetition happens in the outer trigram. Likewise, if the Reversed repetition happens in the inner trigram it is called inner Reversed repetition.

What Reversed repetition signals

Reversed repetition reports the repetition of an event; in the inner trigram it is inner content, including the mind, or loops such as repairing and rebuilding a house over and over; in the outer trigram it is a loop of the surroundings, such as Bitcoin going down, then up, then down, then up..

The timing of Reversed and Stagnant repetition

The timing of Stagnant repetition is the clash of the moving branch, and of Reversed repetition the combination of the moving branch, grouped according to the situation, whether it is the Target line or the Self line.
